Overview

Shifa International Hospital's Clinical Electives Program offers undergraduate and postgraduate medical students a structured opportunity to observe patient care across a wide range of medical and surgical disciplines. Given the high volume of applications compared to the limited number of slots, placements are competitive, and not all applicants may be accommodated.

International students must be enrolled in equivalent program in their respective country of residence

Year 4 Students

Eye
Orthopedics
Radiology
ER
Plus all Year 3 specialties

Year 5 Students

Any specialty of their interest

Application Process

Fee Structure

Student Type	Fee
National applicants	PKR 40,000
International applicants	USD 200

These fees do not apply to CPSP-enrolled trainees.

No Fee is Required at the time of Application Submission.

This fee is non-refundable

Payment must be made electronically or via bank deposit.

Upload proof of payment (screenshot or paid challan) with the application form.

Fees do not cover travel, lodging, meals, or personal expenses.

All fees are subject to periodic reviews

Required Documents

Applicant Must submit the following:

Completed and submitted online application
Medical fitness certificate by a registered practitioner, including screening for Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C and Tuberculosis.
Certificate of enrollment from the parent institution, signed by the Dean or Principal.
Most recent attendance or internal assessment record.
valid CNIC, passport, or equivalent identification document.
Two recent photographs (1*1 size, both digital and printed copies).
Visa and supporting documents (for international applicants only).
Proof of Fee payments (When requested) .
Important updates and notifications regarding your electives will be communicated through your account portal. To stay informed and ensure timely action, please regularly check your electives account for pertinent information and updates.

Elective Scheduling

Elective rotations generally commence on the 1st or the 15th of each month. Applicants are therefore advised to select one of these dates as their preferred start date when applying.

Application Submission deadline	Applications must be submitted at least 4 weeks prior to the intended start date. Applications submitted with less than 4 weeks’ processing time will not be processed.
Processing and approval after Application submission - from concerned Departments and Electives Office	Up to 3 weeks following application submission
Applicant notified	Local applicants: within 2 weeks before start date International Applicants: within 4 weeks before start date
Submission of Electives Logbooks duly signed	Within 24 hrs. after completion of electives rotation
Certificate of Completion and/or Letter of recommendation	Within 2 Weeks after submission of logbook
